Domestic Violence Awareness

This project was about creating a magazine article and spread. I chose to do mine on the topic of domestic violence. I chose to do this because this is an important topic that should still be discussed and brought to peoples awareness. I wanted the target audience to be both people who have experienced domestic violence and others who do not know much about it. The main goal was to grab the viewers attention through the use of emotion. I wanted the cover of the magazine to reference the article without giving away too much information. The cover intrigues you to go look at the main spread and article. It shows how from the outside relationships can look to be perfect and loving. I wanted to aggressively write over this to show the abuse and hate that can be hidden from many. Many people do not even know when others are being abused in relationships. The inside spread is more obvious of the pain and suffering that comes along with mental and physical abuse. The victim is surrounded by images that reflect what might be felt. The article I chose talks about both physical and mental abuse, and how the can intertwine with each other. Mental abuse in itself can cause physical damage that can show up even years down the road in the brain.
